Dear Sister
I have a short time to spare and I will answer your letter we have been payed of $26. I sent Father $20 all I could spare. our last march we mad 35 miles in 24 hours traveled from 6½ oclock in the morning untill noon the next day waded 3 or 4 creecks with our loads I reckon we were tired and sleepy. I should rather moove in Boston than moove out here. we have to take our furniture all at one load and cary it on our backs but that is nothing for a soldier to do if the Darned Rebels would let him alone when he was marching now comes the fun of our march one Regt of Cavelry were in front of us / about 3 oclock in the morning were we were marching along when about 2 Regts of Rebel Infintry and 500 Cavelry fired on our Cavelry killing about 10 and wounding some our Regt were then deployed as skirmishers but the Rebels could not stand it so they took to the legs we did not have a chance to fire a gun. when we got here to the river the Rebles had set the bridge on fire and they were on the other side. we sent 2 or 3 shells after them when they left Double Quick tell Lizzie Wiggin that I remember the time she ment very well remember how I went home with her that night to. Cant think of any more to write
