Dear Sister
Your letter of the 27th inst came to hand to night. I was glad to hear from you, and also to hear that you are well. I believe I wrote you about the two Co's of S.Shooters goin out on a scouting expedition. they went to Orange Court House 40 miles from here and 20 miles from Richmond they met the Rebles and whiped them and came back after 4 days Perhaps we will have to go in a few days. I hope so at any rate I got your paper with the stamps am very much obliged to you for them and also for the paper which is something of a rarity here among us soldiers. I believe I wrote you about the Tamworth boys / being sick, also that Isiah Wiggin had gone to Washington to the hospital sick. Ira Blake is well I reckon. you say you hope the war will soon end so do I but there is a fair prospect of its being continued a year or 2 you wanted me to get my discharge if I could. if I could have my discharge ofered me to day I would not take it Pon Honnor I enlisted to fight, and I have not yet, but I want to, and mean to before I come home. I like soldiering tip top you wanted me to send you my minature I would if I could I had it taken once to send Eliza and lost my chance to have it taken again. but if I can I will. we have it very hot here, in fact hot as blaises so the saying is. warm is no name for it. I thank you for the interest you take in my / Speriteual Wellfare. you must remember that soldiers have a great many temptations to contend with we have meetings here once or twice a week. I go sometimes when I am not too tired, which I am very sorry to say is very seldom the soldiers dont take an interest in meetings like they would if they were at home. I trust you have put your treasure where neither moth or rust doth corupt, nor theives break through and steal laid your foundation on a rock. and if your endure to the end as I trust you will, you will recieve a crown of eternal life. I am glad you feal hapy and every one with pure Religeon will be hapy in my view place them where you will. I got a letter / from Eliza the other day they are all well and kicking at home. I wrote to Oliver P Wiggin and Andrew Berry yesterday. it is a goin to rain and I must close

Give my best respects to all and kiss the little ones for me

Yours Truly
