Regarded Frend
I received your kind and welcom letter last night and was very glad to hear from you in regard to your Dear Brother Frank I will give you the particulars as well as I can. I had not seen Frank sence the forth of last May. I got to my Regt the 18 of Sept the day after the battle. as soon as I saw the boys they told me that frank was shot ded when he fell he was standing by the side of Albert Langly he died without a strugle the ball went in over the left eye and passing directly throught his brains the ball did not make a mark / larger than a cent. He looked as natural as ever, he did he was not disfigard in the lest. I saw him just before he was burrd. Albert Langly helpt burry him he was burred with his cloths on. he had a large woolen blanket rapt around him and a nouther one over him but without any coffin there was a bord placed at the head of his grave with his name on it. he was burrd in as good shape as any man on the field about Franks haveing any change of mind in regard to Religon I know nothing about that but I know one thing about him, he was always steddy and used every one well
I never saw him drink a glass of liquer while I was with him. I have nothing more of intrest to write you at this time. I have not don any duty sence the forth of last May. My has not improved any for the last two months We have marching orders to day and expect to leve every moment.
My love to you
I remain your frend
