Caroline A. Reed to Charles E. Reed, undated
Monday Morning 9 o'clock
Snow is six inches deep and a nice good stiff breeze from the North make it quite wintery.
Father is just about the same this morning
Willie has been out all the morning shoveling snow, has his boots on, but his toes are sticking out. Dr. Paul is here. he and Philip are getting father on the lounge so he can have his bed made. Are going after Mr. Barnard to come to day. Write as soon as you get this and let us know what you want sent to you & if you expect to stay at Portsmouth long.
How do your shirts stand it. I dont think those shirts you sent home will be very bad after they have a good washing, get out the grease & dye stuff.
Your time is so occupied, I dont see how you have time to wash your shirt or anything else. Mother says keep yourself / as clean as possible. Is it hard work to drill? or have you got used to it.
I will send some stamps next time I have only one now. are you most out of money? Laura Keyes is Post ma'm.
Dr Paul is going to mail this at the Flats
Yours affectionately
C. A. Reed
