Dear Brother
I received your letter yesterday and the box to day have just got unpacked All the boys in our tent have had things from home and they all give in that mine beats them all
Tell Mother that they say her cheese takes them all down and there has been a great deal of bragging on cheese here
I have got the old hat on and been eating some of the red sweet apples seems quite like home
The fried cakes are first rate. I am going to take Lieut Brown some of them and apples for he has treated me twice. Tell Mrs Paul I am very much obliged to her for the thing she has sent me and I will think of her when I eat them.
Tell John I am much obliged to him for his lather brush and I will write him a letter
You can do as you think best about buying the colts I am perfectly willing to do as you think best about all things at home.
It seems to bad to sell Dandy so cheap but if / he is going to be blind I dont know but it is best keep doctoring him I would see Franklin again. Tell John I would like to husk corn with him about a week I think I could take the rag off from him
To John A I am particularly grateful for the honey. I shall have to keep that to eat on my bread after my butter is gone. I have no news to write We have the most splendid weather here I ever saw. am well believe I shall be home before the three years are out for I things look more encourageing now than ever before Love to all, Charlie
