                        We were paid off yesterday got 4 months pay. $52. The allotment was lost so we were paid in "green backs" I am going to send mine by express, with A. Duncan Pauls our hospitable steward. He is going to make up a package to night It will be sent to his brother in the drug store at Canandaigua who will sent out by Sisson to Honeoye and have him leave it Franklin & Gregory's
 
I shall send $40 home do what you are a mind to with it use if you need it.
 
I had a letter from Nat yesterday answered it to day / He dont know but he will have to come yet. wanted to know what kind of a chance there was for getting the Adj. of this Reg says he thinks he would like this regiment pretty well. I wrote there was no chance for him here He says is Henry saving his $300 for the draft but he thinks he (Nat) will have to go if he is called on I asked Dunc. Paul about that lawyer Field. he says he is a first rate hand for that kind of business
 
It is clear but cold to day I have got a pretty hard cold throat some sore. Paul gave me something to wash it with He is a first rate fellow can get medicine of him any time with going to the doctor
 
Mrs Brown started for home to day 
 
I am going to buy me a new cap which will cost me $2. if I draw one from the government, it will cost me over a dollar and I dont like them
 
I want Caroline to send me a of Ayers Pills in a letter paper mine have been gone a good while
