Charles E. Reed to Samuel P. Reed, 16 November 1863
Yorktown Va Nov. 16 /63

Brother Sam
I recd  your letter and photograph yesterday The boys think you have got a very keen eye I think it is a first rate picture

I have not been to breakfast yet as I have got considerable to do. At 9½ oclock we have inspection by Inspector Gen have to fall in in heavy marching order. Yesterday there was a general review and parade by Brig Gen Wistar. I expect Gen Butler will review us soon. I hardly know what to do about having my box sent I am afraid we shall have marching orders and then / I should lose all the good of it. My shirts are wearing out at the elbows and I shall need others If it was not for that I would not have any thing sent till winter fairly sets in. The going is good here yet. I presume that you will not get ready to send it before you hear from me again. I guess you had better wait any way. I expect we shall get pay this week. I shall have only eighteen dollars coming to me this time.

I wish you would send me a pair of suspenders in

I cant think of any thing to write and it is pretty hard work

I will close
