Dear Sister
I recd your letter last night. glad to hear from home. I was quite surprised today to run across Dr. Doolittle Caleb Smith and Dan Short. I was very glad to see them did not have much of a chance yesterday to visit them as I was on duty. To day I have been over and had a pretty good visit. Tomorrow Dan is coming over here. I am afraid I shall be on guard Dan has told me all about things at around. I suppose I got twice as much out of him as I could out of Sam. I wish he and / John A. had come with them. They seem to be enjoying themselves first rate I tell you the face of a northern looks good here in this forsaken country. It reminds me of better times.

The boys were out on a scout when they arrived but came in last night I haven't much news. Tell Sam I think perhaps I will send the will home by the Doctor or Dan. if not I will mail in the course of the week. Adams is well. we have been having a little sing Got some music over at the Mt Rifles to day Boys are all well.
You did not say whether that ten dollars I sent came or / not I got a democrat last night. Post came thursday night, that is before you got yours

It has been very pleasant to day warm enough for a fellow in his shirt sleeves I did not put my butter down and it has not spoilt nor is it gone yet

I guess Mother had better not send me any more boxes as warm weather is coming in. I can buy a right smart of things with the money it takes to send a box.
Cant think of any more to write. Love to all particularly Willie

Your Affec't Brother
