Charles E. Reed to Samuel P. Reed, 7 March 1865
March 7th 1865

            Brother Sam—
I wrote home last night so have not much to write now but as I am sending my Orderlies warrant I thought I would slip in a few lines. It has been very pleasant This Division (the 1st) was reviewed to day by Gen'ls Ord & Devins. I was not on the review as I am not fully equipped yet. I was up to the Mt Rifle camp to day. Only part of that Regt have gone away. Saw Almeron Willard & Sisson. They are well. they have been paid off. Willard came back with me and stayed a little while I expect to go to Norfolk pretty soon to get me a pair of pants & vest and few other things. I suppose I could get them here, but I want to enjoy the trip. It will / be quite a holiday. I have not been excused only one day since I was home nearly a year ago & then I was sick. To morrow I commence messing with the officers It seems rather odd I have drawn rations with the boys so long and eat with them. I think I can live for about sixty cents a day while we stay here.

I am going to write to Nat so will close.

Love to all
Yours &c
Charles

Send me two small towels by mail. I have lost all I have
