Charles E. Reed to Caroline A. Reed, 9 November 1864
Camp of Sharp Shooters
Nov. 9th 1864

Dear Sister
I recd your letter this morning. My vest came tuesday. The box has not got along yet. Shall look for in the next express that comes. I have not received Sams letter he wrote when the box started. I guess you had better direct his letters for I always get yours.

Did Sam get my vote you have never written. I sent it in season I have not heard from the Regt since they left last week. Most every one think they went to N.Y. to be present at the election. There has been considerable wet weather lately looks like rain this morning

For two nights it has been expected that the Rebels would make an attack on our lines. When they get ready they will find us prepared. There is a rumor that they are mining Fort Harrison If they do I am glad the 148th are out. Nothing has been heard from Solomon Sullivan.

I cant think if any thing to write As soon as I receive the box will write again

I had heard that Albert was sick

Tell Willie he must eat a good mess of soup and milk for me.

Love to all
Yours Affectionately
Charles

I hope you sent some paper & envelopes for they cost 2½ cents apiece here If not send me some by mail leave one end open and the postage will be most nothing
