My dear Sarah
I received your kind letter of the 27 Oct on last Sunday and on Monday I received the newspaper which you was so kind to send me I am always very ancious to sea a Brookville paper as thy always give a good deal of home news. It showes that the Election was very close in your County the democrats carring the Prothanatoy(sic) and Treasurer and the Republiceans Carring the ballance of the County officers
dear Sarah I wrote a letter to you on the 31st Oct and sent you a Washington Chronickle on last Monday morning which letter I expect you have received not having much to attend to/here to day I thought I would write to you and let you know that I am well and do hope that these lines will find you also engoying good health. Layfiette Burd has listed a gain and was in this Camp on last friday on Sunday I went to sea him but he had been sent to frunt of the lines on Saturday so I did not get to sea him. when you write to me again please let me know if Peter Snepp has come to the Army yet or not if he has come tell me what Regement he is in if you know
tell Pegey Clements that I received the stamps she sent to me very Thankfully and please Present my love and respects to hir also give my love to grand Pap and Elisa also to all the rest of enquiring friends I heard on yesterday that Dick Esby had/been tried and sentansed to be shot if true dick has run his raise in Jefferson County I very much pitty him
Thy have been severial men shot this fall in frunt for desersian Thy ware two men shot here on last Sunday nite Thy tried to run the gard to get out of this Camp and on being Cold to to holt thy did not stop and the guards shot them thy have been several men shot in this way since I have been in this Camp no person is alowed to go out of Camp without having a ritten pass from the officier in Command if you have not all of your winter wood cut you had better get some person to chop it for you before the winter sets in and if I get home by the last of this month I will get it hold to the house for you/
My dear Mussy I do not think of any Thing more to write to you at this time please write to me at least once a week even if you have nothing else to write but tell me that you are well
