Charles E. Reed to Unknown, 10 July 186X
Sunday Morning July 10th

Your letter of July 5th came this morning all right glad to hear from you. You did not write how much the sheep averaged, how much the buck sheared.
I am glad you have got a good team of horses Why dont you sell old Kit and keep Clara. You never have written anything about Nellie's colt is it as good as the one you sold Harry I have got to draw rations to day, have to draw every two days, so it comes on sunday every other week there are no sundays in the army any way

I have got a good living here am not exposed at all. Do not not have to lay in those hot rifle any. That is what is killing the men off I hope you can get a dollar per pound for your wool I wrote last night about a rifle I think it would pay to get one The Capt says I can carry it as long as I am in the service, whether the company is broken up or not I think perhaps in the fall we will go back to our Regts. If we should next year it would be of great benefit to me On the other side of this is a requisition I made out for cartridges. We did use it so I took this side to write on. I got a paper the Independent this morning. It is going to be hot to day

I can get along well enough with what money you send. There is no signs of our getting pay

The Gov owes me $60 now.

Write right away
