My dear wife, I received your letter to day it was dated Aug 21st I was glad to hear that you ware well I was sory to hear that Grand Pap Clements has been ailing for some time back with the Canser in his noes. I had thought that Doctor Kelly had entirely cured it before I left home but I do hope that he will get it cured yet I was sory to hear of the death of Samueal McElhoes but a soieldir has no security of his life in the Army
Dear Mussy you state in your letter that Mrs. Highold is agoing to visit the docter here shortly and you express a desire to come Along with hir to sea me if I have no objections my dear Mussy if it is your desire to come and can put up withe the accomodation here which is not very good I have no objection for you to come I would like to sea you so well Dear Musy you can do as you please with respect to coming it will cost you about fifty dollars to come hear and return home
dear Mussy I was in Washington on last Satturday while their I expresed to you eighteen dollars I wrote a letter to you on yesterday informing you of it. The newspaper you stated to me that you had cent has not been received yet although I got your letter write to me as scoon as you receive the mony and let me know if you are coming to sea me or not I am well at present and/do hope that these lines will find you engoying good health. dear Musy I would have liked to have been along with you and Peggy a blackbering and set on that log and taken a smoke with you but I do hope that the time will come that we will be together again I wrote to you sometime ago that I had heard that Samueal Troy was kild at the battle of gettisburgh but I have understood since that he was wounded and was taken prisner by the rebbels he was wounded in the arm and it had to be taken of near to the shoulder
your letter to day had enclosed in it seven stamps I am thankfull to you for sending them to me please give my love to Oliver & Mary Thompson and Childrin
