July 29th 1864
 
            Dear Wife as Clark has not gotten off yet I will say that we are on the march again Orders came last night after dark & we were off this morning at 5 OClk we are going towards Alexandria now but when we will stop I am to not so certain it is generally thought though that we will go over on the Washita again perhaps to Alexandria again Harrisonburg again I have heard that the federals were concentrating at Vicksburg I have no more news to write to you now two of our men started home to get clothing for this Regt a few days ago I dont know yet whether to tell ask you to send me clothing or not as I am in hopes that I may have the pleasure of coming after them in some time next fall may be if you dont hear from me before they start back with the clothing you had better send me a pr of pants & a shirt & I will make them do till I do get to come perhaps I may stand a chance to draw some. So I will write no more now if Clark dont get off to morrow perhaps I will write some more tomorrow yours in love

P S it is verry warm weather for marching we have come about 15 miles to day
