Camp Near Fredricksburg
                        Virginia
            Brookville       Feb 15th 1863
Dear Sarah I have gust received your letter this morning it is dated on the 5 Feb I was happy to hear from you and to learn that you ware well also glad to hear that Mary and famly ware also well dear Mussy I had not heard from you for 3 weeks and I had become very uneasy about home I have wrote to you twist within the last 3 weaks these letters you had not received when you wrote when I rote to oliver I intended to enclose an order for you to get the Haistings paper when I folded it up I forgot to put it in I wrote to you since and sent you the order I hope you have received it before/this time Dear Sarah thy have nothing strange occured here since I last wrote to you but is very sickly here at present in our Company that is Company I. The one half of them are sick and unfit for duty Lewis Divler and Gust Hulk are now sick but not dangrus Dear Sarah you state that you have ten dollars of your mony yet you have been very saving you aught not to deny yourself the neseries of life you aught to have by yourself coffee and any other thing you wish to eat Dear Mussy we have not receivd any of our pay yet to day closes six month of our time and has now six months pay coming to us/which is fifty two dollars due us we think now that we will not get any of our pay untill some time in March as scoon as I receive it I will send you the greater part of it I will keep a little of it to by me something good to eat ocashionly. we have had but very littl cold wether here yet we have warm days and a little frost at nite and a good many warm rains it is raning to day we have no snow here when you write to me let me know if Oliver plowd up the Clover field and medow last fall or not if so put it in ots timethy and/and Clover in the spring content your self and get a long as well as you can untill I get home write to me often Dear Mussy I am always very happy to hear from you tell Mary to write to me as I am always happy to hear from hir. I have nothing of importance to communicate at present excuse this bad writing as I write it on my nea Dear Musy I conclude by sending my love to you all I send 22 kises to you my dear I remain your affectinate husband
