            Dear Friend Cramer!
I now take these presant Operunity to rite few Lines to let you know that i am well at presant and hoping these few Lines may find you the same I received your Letter and was verry glad to here from you and i am verry thankful to you for looking after my Famely i hope you will doe so till i come home again if the Lord spares me to come back you said in your Letter that we have to whip the South but i think now we cant doe ite by fighting for you see we are wept again General Wool was here yesterday and we had a grand Revue before him we moved in our Barraks yesterday and are Quiet comfortable now 
 
i felt quiet bad when McLellan left the Army but now i am all right again the Pough keepsie Ladies send 500 paire Cloves to our Regement and the was received verry thankful i like Soldiern first rate so far but i would like ite better at home and was working for you the Rhinebeck Boys are all well if i could rite myself i would doe ite often but you know i cant and that makes trouble you must rite soon again you can see how poor i am getting at home i weight one hunderd fourthy seven pound and now i weigh one hunderd sixty five if something should happen in my Famely Please let me knowet right away so no more at presant Give my best Respeckt to Smith Quick Howert Flanaburgh and Fred Ryners and all inquiering Friends and the same to you and Famely from your truly
