Friend Try
I rec'd your note the other day and delayed until I saw Fred then I expected to see him the next day I went to the Left for a pass and he would not give me one I do not dare to go with out one [torn away] /
to come and see him I think he is in a tent this is all I know about now I should of ritten you right after the battle but I could not get paper then and all I knew was that he hurt his foot by a cannon ball and was left on the field but he was taken off and we could not find him or hear a word I hunted two days and went within a quarter of a mile of him and did not know it. iff he gets along well he will get his discharge and be at home in six weeks I think this is all this time [torn away]
