Dear Fred.
I had one of the Stanly boys up here a short time ago doing some mason work he said he was out your way a short time ago & you had sold out your store. if you are at leisure why not come out & see me. I am only 6 minutes from No Beverly Depot. I heard at the reunion that Pernett was in the asylum in Danvers. / I am going to drive over some Wensday to see if it is so. I went to the reunion up to Boston the first time I have been since I saw you out to Marshfield Dunbar was there he is living in Quincy now. big Perry was there the first time I had seen him for 20 odd years. Saltmarsh is in the Soldiers Home in Chelsea. I saw by Kimball Circular that there was ten missing & looking on the records I find John Maguire is put down as one. I have seen his brother & he has told me how he carried him off but does / not know where he carried him to. will you be kind enough to write to me the facts of his being wounded & how many times & where if you can. They brought up about Spofford being killed at Antietam, but he was killed at Bull Run, you know he stood behind me & Frank Davis behind you. he Davis came very near blowing of the side of your head, he is living in Lynn now. always has. Spofford had a brother in the Rebel Army, Phineas T he comes to Boxford once a year from the South to see his people. You / remember the circumstance of Spofford cutting his name on a tree at Blackburns ford in 62 under his Brother's like this
