Daniel B. McGregor was born around 1842. By the early 1860s, he was living in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Union army on April 20, 1861, and he mustered in as a private in Company G of the 4th Pennsylvania Infantry. The regiment took part in the First Battle of Manassas, which he described as a “bloody fight” and a “desperate fight.” He vowed that “I shant come home I am bound to fight the war through.” He mustered out on July 27, 1861, and he died sometime afterward.
