Martha Foster
Martha Foster (maiden name: Williams) was born on August 27, 1814, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Boardman and Deborah Williams She married Solomon Foster on July 5, 1834, and they had at least eight children: Martha, born on May 17, 1835; Solomon, born around 1841; William, born on August 5, 1844; Nathan, born around 1847; Lillian, born around 1849; May, born around 1853; Idaline, born around 1859; and Eveline, born around 1859. They lived in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and her husband worked as a currier. They moved to Abington, Massachusetts, in the 1850s, and by 1860, he owned $50 of personal property. Her husband died on December 31, 1867. She remained in Abington, and by 1870, she owned $800 of personal property. By 1880, she was living in her daughter Lillian’s household in Rockland, Massachusetts. She died there of paralysis on September 5, 1897.
