Convalescent Camp Va June 25th 1863
My dear Sarah I take my pen to inform you that I am well at present and that my nea has got well again and do hope that these lines will find you and all the friends engoying the same good health dear Mussy I have wrote four or five letters to you since I came to this Camp and I have not had a letter from you for some time the last letter I received from you was dated on the third June I am getting very uneasy to hear from you I have not heard any thing from my Company since the marched from the Camp near Fredricksburgh I have been Appointed Assistant Ward Master in Barracks 24 in this Camp my duty is very lite I am not occupied more then one hour and a half per day the rest of my time I have to myself I am not exposed much to the sun nor in the rain in wet wether I have a house to stay in and a tolerable good way to sleap/I have been sending you some daily Washington newspapers which will give you the latest war news the rebels has got in Pennsylvania and Maryland now and thy are a large body of rebals marching on Pittsburgh thy are within 30 miles of that place now I think that thy will be a good deal of hard fiting shortly dear Musy you nead not be uneasy about me as I will not be in any of the coming battels now unless the rebals attacks this camp give my respects to all the friends and now dear Musy I send my love to you write to me often this from your affectinate husband when you write direct to William Rodgers.
