Dear Sarah
Well I got home safe and sound the next day after I left you and here I have been ever since engaging myself the best I can. I have good health and all my family is well I hope you are geting along swimmingly on Troy Hill I suppose John is still attending church at night. I suppose the next time I visit Allegheny I will see his dulcenia. Now Sarah I did not leave either the original or my likeness in Allegheny as you blamed me for there are nothing in that city that I have [?] off Troy Hill could either get the original or likeness; this is true.
I am looking forward with grate anxiety to the time I will have to commence keeping Batchelors Hall what a time I will have washing the dishes and waiting on the ladies when they call to see me. I am studying politeness all the time now you know I must be polite to they ladies. Well the weather is fine here, dry and pleasant a little cool in the morning. Country generaly healthy. our mountains are beginning to look bleak / and baren. the North will soon wake up her chilling blasts. rather a dreary prospect

Oclock 12 minutes AM. the post line arrives at Johnstown at 6 Oclock PM at either point I will meet you with a hand car rest assured we will all be heapy to see you. give my kind wishes to all my friends and leave a goodly share for your self
