Dear Love it is with pleasure that I adress you these fiew lines I am well and most of the boys are to it has been some time since I had time to write but have not much time now and you must excuse short letters we have been marching since sunday I have been up 2 nights in the time the first time was crossing Green river Bridge and last time had to go back after other companys things the road was so bad that they could not hall them along but love I am all right yet and think as much of you as ever all though soldiers are hard boys yet they have harts capable of loving the fair sex or I have at any / rate at least I have not for gotten you yet and never will and hope the time will soon come when we will be permitted to meet face to face for I should like to see you very much I received a letter from you last week with a fiew lines from sarah was glad to hear from you the one that I love the one that I can put confidence in I am in a hury and must soon close for it is most dark but now
 
have more time now we started sunday night and crosed the river I got over about one oclock but some of them did not get over till morning the bridge 114 ft high and 1000 ft long and about 19ft wide the raling is about knee high did not pich our tents the boys laid on the wet ground we was 3 days going 12 miles and one day going 16 miles we had big times 3 first days we went through the woods cut our / own road and after 2 or 3 wagons went along we would haf to make a new road and so it all the time some of our teams got most give out I hauld the biggest load and then had to go back and help the other boys along but we are here now and all right and soon will have to go on to Nashville and if we give them hail Columbia there they will be satisfied I think we will be most through here in this part we came through a hard country but where we are it is a nice country we are about 5 miles from Boling Green now have not been there yet but must close this but Love I remain your Dear intended Lover I often think of you how you are enjoying your self I should like to be there with you I think we would have very good times but must close I remain yours truly give my love to all your folks and a good deal / to your self from one that loves you dearly and often thinks of you yours with truly
