Dear Love I embrace this opportunity of writing to you it has been some time since I wrote to you but was on acount of not having time after the evacuation of Corinth our division mooved on east about 30 miles and as soon as they got through the teems had to go back to the old camp after provisions and have been going every day since but to day I did not go with them for I had the headache / but feel some better the health of the boys is good better than since we left camp Buckingham James Sheckler is well we are in a healthy country now in a hilly country and good water I did not know but you would think that I had forgotten you but not so nor never shal but that is enough I supose you have good times there and plenty of merriment but I think that our country is a head of yours for our wheat is ripe and cut and plenty blackbries and muberies and plumbs and girls some very nice looking to we can get milk and other nicknacs / and various other things but not equal to old Auburn I should like to be at your house I could get all that I would want but it is hopeful that that ere long to be to be permitted to return to the long wished for home but for all this I do not want you to think that I am home sick but home is sweet to me especily with the enticements that is near there not far from Wm Ewings probably you know who I mean I will not tell you her name for you know her well I want you / to write about her whether she is well or not and if she remembers me or not but I think you do but Love I well remember the pleasent times that we have spent to geather and hope those times may return once more I was in hopes that this conflict would end by this time but we have good nuse Memphis and fort pillow is taken and every boat except one which is left to tell the sad fate but it is [?] the Miss river is clear and every principal place is taken but I expect we will have to gueard most exposed places but I must close for this sheet is most full good by
