Dear Love as it has been some time since I last wrote to you I will comply to my promise again it is not because I do not want to write but on acount of time but I would rather talk to you in a different way but as I can not this is the only sorce I do not know but you have begun to think that I have forgoten you but not so that is out of the question for I often think if that fair face and wonder if you look as you did but I am left in the dark as far as that is concerned / I have not heard from you for some time but that is not because you have not writen for I know that you have but as to where I am and what I am doing we are near Nashville in a pleasent camp in the woods and most of our Regt are in good health my health is midling but not very stout but am on the gain I think I can stand it through at least a short time yet but Love I think I am good for it yet I received a letter from E E Ashley to night it done me good to hear of the ocurences at home he says he saw you at Johns he says you looked like a pigeon if that is so you look old fassion for you alwase looked well and now about J McGinnis going with Jane Edwards I glad to hear / that John is doing so well as that but that is not the fun of it the best of all is him trying to tickle her to death in the palm of her hand and asked her if she knew what he was doing I presume that she did for she told him that he might go home it seams that the boys are geting pretty fast lately but if they can make it win it is all right as far as it does not concern me but enough of such noncence to day is sunday the 23 I guess you will discover that this letter was wrot at different times which is the case most every time but it cant be helped I have not seen any of those boys that enlisted lately I have been near them but did not know it till it was to lat the 101 and 102 & 111 lay near us 2 or 3 days / but did not know as any of the Auburn boys were in those Regts till they were gone I got a letter from Poe Aumend stating that Wash is Lieut in the 111 Regt those Regt are near here but that is all the good it does me and about those things that you sent James Sheckler I have them yet if he wants them he will have to come and get them I got all of them and did see James after wards as he was left at Stevenson and I got them while on the road but I heard that he is now discharged I am glad to hear of it but I must hasten for it is most noon I remain the same to you till death shall close these eyes of mine from your effectionate Lover and true yours Love to all remember the under signed
