Dear And Beloved Wife
As I have an opportunity I will write you a fiew lines in answer to yours mailed Aug 2 was glad to hear from you so soon and such cheering letters to I donot know what I would do if it were not for you I never knew what the love of woman was untill I was married to you at least I never realised it seems if I were with you my happiness would be perfect and hope soon that ma be my happiness but but the ways of providance are misterious I often look back to the days that are pased some of which I have spent in your society I think if I am permitted to return to you I will know how to cherrish the love of a dear friend such as you well Let you wrote in your last letter about sending some things and if I wanted any thing to let you know it well I donot know as there is any thing particular that I want send what you please and I will be satisfied / but if you want to send me some whiskey send it a long I can take care of it I guess I donot think it will throe me down at least it never has as yet well Dear Let I would like to have been to that panorama with you very much although I donot know as it would have been a new sight but still is interesting scene but many a river have I seen crosed so it would be no new thing but reality the cavalry raiders have been coming in for several days back they were 160 miles from here south they were surprised and scatterd and a large number of them kiled and captured but still they had done a large amount of damage the road was destroid each way from Macon they had been in the saddle six days and nights and only had 4 hours sleep in the time I supose was the reason they were captured the sound of the muskets did not wake them and then only to be shot down part of those that came were bare footed they left with out putting on their boots well I must close for another time as supper is ready and I must attend to that the next thing I do but will finish this letter soon as conveniently can

Dear Let as I have an opportunity I will finish my letter to you well in the first place I am enjoying good health also of the rest of the boys Well Let I suppose you are at mothers by this time wish I were with you it would be much pleasure to me I assure you hope the time may soon come when that will be my privalidge I would except it gladly but at present the country neads all the men that can be spard concistantly but from what I hear some of citizins are intending to resist the draft if such is their intentions it will be a hard moove for them it is reported to me that a certain man said they could raise fus enough to draw Grant from Richmond but they will be sadly mistaken they will bring war in the North and will have to fight it out themselves if the rebs were to come up there their heads would not be saffer than a Union mans would / and not as much respected as a true union man I have more respect for a traitor in the southern army because he shows what he is and the copperheads are like snakes in the grass well Let I will say no more on that topic for it stirs up my angry passions to some extent but suppose I must grin and bear it as I am Jerome caine is well he also saw Wallace is midling well I also heard from Frank Cummins by one of the boys of his company he said that he was at Acworth very sick but cannot say of a certainty as it is so I was fearful that he was kiled but hope he will come around all right yet Well Let I have no nuse to write of importance at present the Chaplain of our Regt went home yesterday I also have his horse still an increas of stock shall keep him till the Chaplain returns you could send those things by him you may send a testament if you please as I have none at present must close love to all yours in love
