Dear And Effectionate Wife
I will write a fiew more lines to you as I have not sent the first one I wrote to you for the reason that I could not we had to moove our camp that day 16 miles up the river to a town caled Rose Well situated ½ mile from the river to suport the cavalry while effecting a crossing which was done with out much trouble but Let I will detail the particulars as I wrote to Sarah and probably you will see it on the acount of time well we had a pleasent trip although it was very hot we sufferd conciderable / with heat but it is all over now we came back to our former camp last night and 2 day mooved over the river where the remainder of the corps is it crosed while we were gone we Let I cannot tell when or where the next fight will be but one thing I am sure of Atlanta will soon be ours for we have different ground to work on than what we have had before Let I donot know as I can write any thing of importance to you I heard of Wallace lately He was well I saw Calvin Dunlap Widon Dunlap son of Plymouth T[?] He saw Wallace the day before Dunlap is in the 66 Ill inft well Let I just got a letter from Elem must answer it so you must excuse
Dear Wife I hope soon to hear from you also hope your health is better E says he saw you a short time ago said you were well as usuall excuse poor writing and soon &c.
