            Dear And Effectionate Wife
                                                            Having the opportunity once more of adressing you these fiew lines it is with the gratest of pleasure that I have the privlige of writing to you the beloved of my heart and highly esteamd Friend. I received a letter on the 28 of June dated June 20 but had writen on the same day therefore did not answer it at that time I received it but Dear Let your letter was read with pleasure I am glad your health is improoving Hope your health will be restored and those rosa cheeks will retain their color as in formar days Dear Let it would be with gratist of pleasure to be with you again but at the present it is other wise but hope to be spared to return to the home of my childehood and to Friends dearer to me than life it self but death is in the land there has been several deaths of my acquaintance in ohio since I left and some in the prime of life / I have wonderd often who would be the next one that would be taken it might be some friend or relative but time will tell all things We have been having some warm times since I last wrote to you our devision and a part of Davis devision made a charge but was repulsed with conciderable loss Had a warm time for a fiew minutes the bullets came rather thick for me but I lade close to the works which saved my bacon had one man kiled and 4 or 5 wounded in our Regt Brigadier Gen Harker was kiled commander of our Brigade (Capt) Williams of the (65 OVI) was kiled he was acting Major of the regt the Lieut Colonel Whitbeck was wounded there was another Colonel kiled besides a great many privates to numerous to mention but at present things are quiet here there is no picket firing at present the boys have their own times on picket traid coffee for tobacco and change papers and this morning a corporal of the rebs came out and banterd a corporal to rasel and said that he would show the yanks what the rebs could do the reb was gratified by a corporal but the yanks was to much for him the reb was throed over the yanks head and was told that would be the way they would all be served which he could did not doubt nor I eather but it is a thing of time which will take some time to solve yet 
 
            Dear Let I donot know as I can write anything of interest the weather is very hot I believe the warmist that I have seen you wrote about Ed Bevier having an increase to his family I wish him sucess with the new born babe Hope he may do well but I must hasten for we have to moove our camp in the rear line of breast works in a fiew minutes my health is good at present and hope when this reaches you that you may be enjoying better health I saw Jerome yesterday also Dan McDannah of the 45 Ohio I have not had time to see those boys since they came here but will as soon as convenient I supposed that Andrew Mellic was with the regt but he is not Levi Dewit was well the report is here that the 13 19 and 21 Corps are here and on our right but donot know how true the report is but hope it is true we have not been paid off since we went home last winter when I do I will forward it to you probably by the state Agent if not by express whichever is saffest and you may do whatever you choose with it we have very little opportunity of spending money for we have no sutlers but so much the better for me for you know what kind of a chap I am to spend money but must close give best wishes to Father Mother & Sister I remain your Effectionate And Faithfull Husband

I cannot tell what kind of a time may have for we donot know what kind of a day the next may bring forth
