Dear Beloved Wife
having an opportunity of writing I will answer your letter of the 30 of May which came to hand on the 8 of June but not in time for me to answer it I wrote one to you that day and sent it off a short time before your was receved so I thought I would not answer it then Dear Let I was much pleased to hear from you and will be at all times you spoke about the Post Master rather discourageing any one from sending letters he was misinformed if he had such information for the mail has come through regular it seams that there is more mail coming at present than for some time before / But Dear Let I am sorry that your health is so poor I sincerly hope you may recover by means of a good doctor Dear Wife you have my simpathies in your sickness How I wish I could be with But such is not the case but hope it will not be long before that time will come times look favorable at present but dear Let my heart and mind are with you if my presence are not
You spoke about there being great excitement there undoubtedly more than here it has been 4 days since the skirmishing began here there has been but little fighting more than picket fighting they have themselves fortified on a hill or what is cald lost mountain we have 2 lines of works in our front I have not seen a man that was kiled and only too wounded boath from our Regt one from Co K and one from H Jackson Cummins but it very slight the ball struck the belt plate which saved him
I supose you have nice weather about this time well we have to but over the left it rains most every day and some days 5 or 6 times and the nights are no better so you see we have some mud it is cool also
My health is good also James is well there is but little sickness of any kind excepting one kind Minnie feaver caused by an ounce of lead
things are mooving on as well as can be expected the rail road is in runing order up to our lines and has been for 2 days so you we can have plenty to eat we was a little short for 4 or 5 days but all right now but not much of a variety but I must close excuse short letter and poor writing give my best wishes to Father Mother and sister and Let
