it is with pleasure that I write you these fiew lines to let you know how things are I received a letter from you yesterday was glad to hear from you it is the first letter that I have received from you since the 6 of last month I had began to think that you had forgotten me but it seams not I ritten several to you in that time I answerd 4 or 5 that is to come from you but will answer them when then to hand am sorry to hear of the loss of the old mill burning up but cannot help it for I am rather far from you I am sorry that your health health is no better no better than it is my health is good it is very healthy here / the weather is very nice here we have very good times we have an old fidle to keep up the spirits of the downcast heart stricken soldiers of which there is some but will with hold their names for fear of hurting the fealings of the friends there is no one can tell the feelings of such because they donot know who to trust but it worth something to find out what another fellow is but it is hard the cost exceeds the proffit I think so at least it is hard if such can not be trusted when they have laid down their live and not kild have to endure a great deal of hard ships but if that was my case I would not care but I cannot believe I more confidence in my intended than that although have heard that there is hard stories of lots / but love I cannot beleave them nor shal not till I know it personaly for I have more confidence than that in you I cannot beleave that you could be led away but there is many things that hapens that ar misterious to behold I have not heard what it was but was awful some eyes views things in a glorious light but love I cannot beleave such reports nor shal not you can rest asurd of I would like to have you give the peticulars of the report I imagend from the way you wrote that some thing was the mater but this is between you and me and shall remain so I imagin what it is but do not know for certain but when the devils are all in hell then will be peaceble times and not till then love I hope this may find you well no more write soon love to all yours truly yours till death F Ashley
