Dear Love as I have time to write I will try to pen you a fiew lines as I supose that you are looking for a fiew lines every day if not more but I will do as best I can at times I can write very well at other times it is most impossable for me to write at all but love I know who I am writing to if I do make mistakes it will be looked over my health is good and the health of the regiment is good we have the finest kind of weather / here the woods are in fool bloom and have been for some time I expect the times are dull up north but for all that I should like to be up there a short time long enough to make my Love a visit at least it is my hearts desire to be there at the present but that desire cannot be granted I supose that you feel hurt because I do not come there but but it is a thing impossable to get home and those that told you that I did love you because I did not come home on a furlough and show due respect to the image of my heart or in other words my lover they very little of war and would to God that none of us knew any more than they but it is to the contrary but I can say with truith that you are the idol of my heart and I love you dearly and any thing that I have / previously writen was wrote without the least idea of hurting your feelings in the least and if I have I humbly ask your pardon but I do not know the state of your feelings at the present time for it has been some time since I have received a letter from you your last letter that came to hand was writen the 9 of April I have answerd that and wrote another since but do not know as you have received eather of them but I done the best I could for them I am sure that I donot receive one half of the letters sent to me but I must put up with it and live in hopes of some day conversing with you never to be parted again till death shal do it but love I must close for I must help raise our house we are building logg shanties and covering them with our shelter tents Love excuse mistakes and so on and remember me as your / sincere friend and well wisher yours with love write soon and often for I like to here from you often no more but remain your Lover
