Dear Let
having arived to the above named town safe and well and having time thought I would write you a fiew lines but donot know as I can write anything that will interest you but will write a fiew words as it serves to pass away the lonly hours of a soldier but would rather talk with you but as such is not the case I suppose that I will have to return to the old method that we engaged in in times past we came here about noon to day was ten days on the road will leave for Loudon in 2 or 3 days some 80 miles distant
Let I suppose you and the rest of your folks are enjoying yourselves in your home I should like to happen in there some of these days to make you a visit but the distance is rather to great at the present to indulge in but hope that such will not allways be the case I have not as yet received a letter from you but am looking for one I know that there is one on the road for me this is the forth one that I have wrot to you but donot expect that you have received them yet Let I want another photograph of yours and would like to have Sarahs also when it is convenient to do so and your Mothers to have them taken to suit your own fancy and they will suit me I want 2 of yours as Lieut Cummins wants one / which in return I get one of his womans that I supose will be all right I will send it to you which will add one more to your store but must hasten as it is most night the report is that there was a fighting at Dalton to day but have not heard the particulars yet I have no more nuse to write the health of the Regt is very good had a fiew cases of the measles and mumps but it is with the recruits as yet Let I begin to look as black as usual the southern clime is good for the dark complexion but I must close excuse this scribling till next time give my love Father Mother and Sister but remain your effectionate Husband
