always willing to correspond with you the beloved of my heart but would much rather talk with you but as such is not the case I will have to use the means that is at our disposal I see no other way at the present so I can do no better but hope some of these days things may be different I have not forgotten my dear friend the Wife of my bosom I respect her more than all other other things I would not do any thing that would wound her feelings in the least I supose you remember what was said about that at least I do very well I have not forgoten the many pleasent hours that I pased in your society and who should I notice / in your letter of the 10 of April you spoke about my coming home from Columbus the resons was this the Colonel expected to leave the next day after the regt came here they did not come in till tuesday morning if I had known how thing were I would have staid till wednesday dear Let I pased some lonesom days when I first left you I did not look for such but I could not help it when I thought of the fair bride that I left and I to wander off to a far distant land but such feelings have died away to some extent but need not fear of being forgoten by me for such never will be the case I received a letter from you since I have been writing this letter dated the April 20/64 was much pleased to hear from the one that I love dearly I cannot tell you the pleasure it gives me to hear from you and to know that you feel satisfied with the choice you have made it gives me pleasure to know it is so but for my part I am well satisfied I would not change my position for no other situation I know / of that is concerning our union but some things I like different but shall have to bide my time and look for a close of this war then my joy will be complete if I have my health and you also my happiness will be unbounded but it will be some time before such will be the case my health is good and hope you are also I stood the journey very well we had a fine time nice weather and so on we are in the same Brigade and devision as before the health of the camp is good I never saw James Sheckler look better in my life he is very fleshey so much for him I had a lite tutch of the mumps but am well there has some been taken down with the small pox also with the measles I am to wread the discription of those young ladies near you & the girl thought if she could not have the man she would have the other at least but will close excuse mistakes and so 4th write soon Love to all I am your
