Dear effectionate Let
as I have been writing I thought I would write you a fiew lines my health is good also of the rest and all in fine spirits but have lost heavily from our regt near 100 men kiled and wounded but things look prosperous here the army has drove the gray backs over 60 miles and at present are resting but will leave soon and then look for some stiring nuse Love I often think of you and hope before 12 mounths from now to be with you again and enjoy your society which is preferable to all others I know of I donot know if I can give you any nuse for you probably have heard all through the papers / at least I have and as far as I have seen it is correct as far as it concerns this army I donot know as my letters have reached you but will sometime it was reported that the mail was stoped at Nashville but donot know as it is so but if you donot receive any from me you nead not feel bad for I will write as often as I can as yet have writen every week and sometimes twice we are traveling through a nice country but it is soon devastated fruit looks well and every thing in a prosperous condition there could have been a better to moove through this country than at present the cars come up to our front line so you see we have plenty to eat and nothing lacking to hinder a favorable campaign it is thought by most that this will end the war and hope it will for Dear Wife I will not be sorry when that time will come but I must close for I cannot collect my thoughts enough to write a letter of sense but hope you will pardon me for doing so bad for I notice / several mistakes but trust to your charity for me and with these fiew words will close give my love to Father Mother and Sister yours most effectionately
