John F. Pierson General Order, 20 October 1862
1 Regt. N.Y. Vols.
20th Oct. 1862.
General Order. No 34.

The General Commanding the Brigade, has made a special request, that his compliments be given to the Regt. and his praise and appreciation expressed, of its good conduct and freedom from straggling upon its late march from our last camp to this. The commandant of the Regt. feels that like himself each man will be gratified at this intelligence, and resolve to wrench greater praise from the future. During this march but one case of straggling has come to his notice that of Private John C. Miller, Company F. and he hopes this public reprimand will shame him from a repetition of it.
