Vinkler R. Jones
Vinkler R. Jones was born around 1827 in North Carolina to Tignal and Amelia Jones. His father was a county magistrate. The family lived in Wake County, North Carolina, and by 1850, they owned $1,250 of real estate. His father died on March 31, 1850, and the family moved to Texas by the mid-1850s. He married Laura J. Doxey on December 23, 1856, and they had at least one child. He enlisted in the Confederate army, and he mustered in as a corporal in Company A of the 9th Texas Infantry on October 19, 1861. He was promoted to sergeant in January 1862, and he mustered out on April 24, 1862. He probably died in July 1865.
