Sir
All the medical Officers belonging to the Army of the Potomac are relieved except Surg' C. N. Chamberlain U.S.N. L. W. Oakley 2d N.J. Rulison 9th N.Y.Cav. J. D. Osborn 4th N.J. & Asst. Surgeon Brenton U.S.A. A Brakey 15th Mich. Sturdevant 139th Pa & May 145th N.Y.
Surg. Rulison will be relieved this week as his hospital will be broken up and his patients taken to Camp Letterman in a day or two.
A. A. Surg's T. H. Walker, E. F. Guth & J. H. Smith are relieved and might be ordered to some other place if needed. A. A. Surg. Thos. Smith requests to be relieved as he feels unwilling to report to a younger man. I think his request should be complied with as his loss will not be irreparable.
Surg Ruby who now has charge of the 1st Corps Hospital is an efficient officer, the police now is very good and the hospital has already assumed a new aspect. I think the patients can be taken to the camp by the end of the month.
Respectfully
Your obt svt
