Adelaide F. Barnard
Adelaide F. Barnard was born around 1845 in Bloomington, Illinois, to Francis and Mary Barnard. Her father was a farmer who owned $6,000 of real estate and $1,500 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Bloomington, and she married Samuel S. Stevens on January 27, 1864. Her husband operated a dry goods store. Her husband probably died by 1880, and she married Willard C. Wilcox on December 16, 1880. He was a “prominent and wealthy member of the board of trade” in Chicago, Illinois. In 1883, Wilcox filed for divorce on the grounds of “desertion.” She married Charles A. Lawler on May 4, 1892, but he may have died soon afterward. She then married a Mr. Temple, who died in the early 1900s. She died in Chicago in November 1913.
