Camp Beaver Nov 8th 1862
Dear Sarah
            I received your letter dated Oct 29th and one of an eirelyer date I was happy to hear that you ware all well Dear Mussy I have been so buisy for some time back that I could not get time to write to you and I now do it in a hury we had one man died in our hospitel last nite he died of fever was sent home to Center County to day his name is John Kime he was a boy of 16 years old Dear Musy Mr Marlin a brother of our Captons the Marlin that Clerked for Ryans about a week ago he left this and went home I sent by him to you a few little books and a paper of tea if you have not got them yet call on him he lives in town and get them the tea I wish you to divide and give Mary Thompson part of it. our wether here has been very warm untill yesterday it snoed all day the snow here this morning is about 4 inches deep to day is pleasant and the snow is melting very fast. Capt Marlin has been sick for some time past but has got nearly well his wife was here to sea him I think that she has now returned home if you have not got your winter wood chopt yet you had/had better hire some person to chop it before the cold wether sets in and get it hold to the house tell Oliver Thompson that he may put in a back doar if he wants to I think thy are a dore made and laying on the loft. Thy aught to be another windo put in the back part of that room if you cannot sell your calves for more then five dollars you had better keep both of them and raise them untill thy become cows. The certifficate you spoke of in your letter I will send it to you in my next Capt Marlin promised to make it out for me but I have not got it yet the newspapers you say you sent me I have never received any of them yet if thy come here the Capt must keep them send one to me directed in this way to W.Rodgers Cockeysville Baltimore Maryland perhaps I may get it then. it is very sickly here in our Reigement at present but think when the cold wether sets in that it may become more healthy tell Oliver I received his letter I thank him very much for writing to me tell Mary to write I have not time yet to write to them I can scarsly get time to write to/you and then thy hear from me every letter I write to you I do not know whether we will winter hear yet or not they are some talk that we may be yet to Texes. or perhaps to hagerstown This fall yet if we should be sent to texes we will be a great distance from home we must go to wherever we are ordered Dear Mussy I must close this letter for want of time to write any more at this time my health is good at present hoping that you and all the friends are also engoying good health I receved your letter with the 22 kisses in them thy ware very sweet I return you 24 kisses in return for them My love to you Oliver and Mary Thompson & Childrin and all the rest of our friends I remain your affectinate husband
