Resolutions of the Officers of the 47th New York Infantry, 1 March 1864
            Whereas, In the inscrutable wisdom of Divine Providence, our late cherished friends and brother officers, Capt. Henry Arnold, 1st Lieut Charles C. Evry, and 2d Lieut. Edward F. Hunting were suddenly removed from us by death, and
 
            Whereas, The circumstances attending this sad event—they having fallen while in command of companies, and in gallantly performing their duty as at the late battle near "Olustee" thus sealing their devotion to the country and its flag with their life's blood—demands that we should place on record our testimony to their gallantry as soldiers and their many estimable qualities in sacred life therefore be it
 
            Resolved That in Capt. Henry Arnold we ever recognized the finished gentleman, the accomplished scholar, and the thorough soldier—one eminently qualified to dignify and [?] any station in public or private life. Though physically unfit for the hardship of a campaign in the field, he refused to remain inactive, and after receiving one severe wound remained lingered to cheer his men on in the fight until fatally struck he received a mortal wound second and mortal blow. His record stands dear and bright in the long list of those who have "for his country fallen".
 
            Resolved That the many estimable qualities of head and heart which death were united in the person of our late brother officer, 1st Lieut Chas C Evry—his manly independence and sterling integrity, united joined to a bold and impulsive disposition—had endeared him to each one of us, and we feel that in him the nation has lost one of its most loyal and unselfish defenders
 
            Resolved That in the death of 2d Lieut Edward F Hunting—the youngest of our number—where early career gave promise of a glowing future—we have lost are called upon to mourn one who was ever prompt at the call of duty, and who had faithfully discharged all the obligations incumbent upon him. /

            At a meeting of the Officers of the 47th Regiment New York State Volunteers, held at Regimental Head Quarters, Jacksonville, Fla., March 1st 1864 the following Preamble and Resolutions were unanimously adopted:--
