I now take my pen in hand to write a few lines to you to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines will find you and all of the boys the same I have just received a letter from Katie and she gave me the directions where to write to you and I thought I would do so for we soldiers like to hear from old connecticut as often as we can wal / Henry how do you like to be a soldier do you like it as well as you thought you should we have had it pretty hard some times but have got use to hard times now we are here in newbern yet bin hear ever since the 14 of march I hope that we shall come where you are is silas keeth in your company give my best respects to him Katie sent me the list of drafted men in milford and I will send it to you in this letter for I presume that you know a great manny of them Lucius Smith for one and I am glad of it aint you for he was a / secesionist I believe if there was one Joel Smith James Smith george Beard Miles B Plumb Treat Plumb and a lot of others you can read them on the list better than I can write them we hear good news from Burnside most evry mail I am a going to write to milford to night Katie said that they was all well she thinks evry thing of eddy she sais he is a smart little fellow give my love to all of the boys and shear a part your self write soon as you can remember me this is from a Brother
