My Dear Parrents                   
I now take my pen in hand to write you a few lines in answer to your letter to let you know that I am well and enjoying myself as well as can be expected and hope these few lines will find you all in good health you said that father was verry lame I hope that he will get better before long. O how I wish that I was there to help him for I think that he has worked verry hard and got a long nicely with so little help, but I soppose Herman helps him some I soppose that he is quite a / stout boy now for he must have grown considerable he must have bin to school considerable for he writes a verry good hand he will beat me if I donot look out. O how does Eddy get a long I wonder what he is a doing now he must be quite a large boy by the tell if he goes a round to uncle lymans. so does he go a lone wal I dont soppose that if I should see him a way from home that I should know him dose he drive the horse for granfar and ride in the cart tell him to be a good boy and eat a big puddin and grow all he can for I want him to work with me when I come home has Henry gone to North Haven with his father tell him to write and I will / do the same and give me the Directions where to write is Martha to work in the straw factory now ask her how hur John gets a long is he well please give me a little infamation on the subject tell him also to write tell him that I should like to hear from him Martha you did not mean to let me know anny thing a bout him but Katie wrote to me and told me to ask you how John was that is all she told me a bout him that is all this time give my love uncle Aunt James family Henry and family and also John and take a good part yourselfs with mutch love remember me to Katie write soon and all of the news. this is from your son       Miles L Smith
