My Dear Parrents.
 
                                    I received your most welcom letter to day and how glad I was to hear from you I received a letter from Katie the same time she is well and all of the folks she spoke of Capt George White of the 15th regt going to be colonel of our regt he was Henrys Capt they say he is a fine man I have heard him spoken of verry highley some say that he is hear / I have not seen him yet I hope it is true you say that you have sent me a box I soppose I will get it soon I hop the things will come all right and when I get it I will write and let you know all a bout it the turkey wont go verry bad also the pies walnuts appels and the candy that Eddie and Herman sent I will send them a present and all of you when I get paid how much did the box cost let me know for I want to make it right for you have ways a nough to use / money for things are verry dear now mother shall have a nice present for she has done a great deal for me also father and you all have and I have not forgotton you I think of my dear old home if I am a long ways from you I have not forgotton anny of you tell Elizabeth that I thank hur for what she sent also Aunt Caroline for I know they are nice I always like pie I guess you use to think so when I was home there is not mutch news to write this time evry thing is b[?]ly / and the turkey will go good O how I should like to be there with you this winter but I am in my log house happy as if in a palace take things easy so let the wide world jog as it I be free and easy still there is a good time a coming yet I keep up good courage and that is the onley way for a soldier so that is all this time love to all I am well I will write more next time remember me to all write soon and all of the news this is from your Son Miles L.
