Dear Parrents
 
                        I received your letter of the 16th last sunday Also one from Katie and have wated untill now thinking that I might have some thing new to write but have not there is no news hear at present onley there is election hear to day a fire in the city last night Katie wrote and told me of Mother coming and making hur a visit she said that she enjoyed hur visit first rate and said that she could not persuade hur to stay all night with / hur I am glad if Mother has found the way over to Katies did she give hur the flowers that she bought for hur when I was home you say that father has got his rye in and is buisey getting hay you say that you have had new potatoes I should like to be there to have some and also green peas for I am verry fond of them I hope by a nother year that I will be home free from a soldiers there is no sign of us coming yet but I keep up good courage thinking that we will be home by fall if not be fore for I dont se the use of keeping so manny in the field you say that Charles is / not discharged yet I should of liked to of bin home when he was there for it is a long time since I have seen him you say that he was going back thursday I soppose that you have heard of Barnums Museum burning I see by the paper that he is going to have a nother that will astonish the world there is a baby hear onley 2 years old that weights over 2 hundred pounds aint it a whopper there is no news to write and I will close for this time I have onley 1 stamp left please send one in your next for I have no money to get them with. give my love to all and shear a good part your selfs I am well write soon and all of the news from your Brother Miles
