Boston April 29^th/63

 

Dear Sister

                        I have made two unsuccessfull attempts to pass the night with you and am afraid that I shall have to leave here again without bidding you farewell in all events I trust that you will take the will for the deed. I have been piloting father around a day or two and find him much brighter as the spring advances. We are all well out home. John Gibbs was horror struck when he went to pay Fathers board bill at Eastabrooks to find that they charged him $12.00 per week. He gave him $100.00 on account and said to me he was afraid there was some gouge game between Pa. Sullivan and the Doctor E— for Father was not smart enough to make any bargain when he went there but thought it would be a dollar a day the rate Pa. Sullivan said he paid. 

 

I ran down last night and saw Laura & Mr. P. they were in good spirits and very pleasant. I should like to have staid longer. Mr. P. preached last Sunday & will tomorrow I expect, his mumps show very little. They sent much love to all relatives. Edw. has not returned from Washington but his visit was very successful. I think another week will see us both on our winding way at least I hope so for this life has become terribly tedious to me.
