Dear Ned,
Have you arranged Elsies affairs, in relation to the mortgage &c. &c. upon her coming of age? Her birthday came 16th January; and before coming up to Lake Superior last August, I left with Mr. Gibbs both the old mortgage and the note; as I felt so entirely uncertain how long I might be kept here. You remember that I drew up a mortgage & note for the new arrangement, to be all ready—and you put it in the big wallet in your upper drawer. That was at my last visit in N. Prov. July 25, 1889, the last day. I have heard nothing from Gibbs; and as a month has gone by, I now write to enquire about it, or to remind you of it.
The old one was matured August 14th 1889 as you recollect. but we let it run unchanged till Jan. 16, 1890.
Have you heard anything more of Minnie, since her going to Tacoma, or why she went there, or how or with whom??
I suppose there will be no danger now in recording this new mortgage?
I wrote to Mary 2 or 3 weeks ago; but at that time my mind was so full of Little Neds death, and of her and your affliction, that I did not think of this mortgage.
They write intimations of Mays health being poor, and for many months past. What is the nature of her troubles?
I am glad to learn that both Mary and May went off visiting & hope they will both be benefited by it.
Yours ever
Edwd. A. Wild
