M. Barracks washington Jan. 18/63

Sis
I received your letter on fryday, and one from jack on the same day, written on the fourth. He says he is well and is liveing like fighten cocks on the things sent from home and I was glad to hear it. He said he had a letter from home last week, which would be week before last, now. I answered his on Sunday after I came in from liberty. I did not see much of the town for I just got in the cars in front of the gate and rode up to Penna Ave. between 3rd & 4th St and staid there untill I whent back again the first thing I done was to get my hair cut and fixed up and went into Bell's & Bro. and got my card taken. I got a dozen taken and I will tell you who I want to get them. The best for home of course / one for Uncle John's folks, Aunt Jane, Dolly Slaymaker, Uncl William, Lizzie and Lizzie McIlvain, J. P. McIlvain N. S. Agnew, one for Michal, and Mary

I then will have two left which I intend to give one to Bill Duffield, and the other you may give to my girl, if you can find out who she is, or to any one you have a mind to. I had thought of sending it to Jack but you may do it if you see propper They cost me two dollars and a half, and will be done tomorrow but I will not get them untill the next day, because I will not be on liberty untill then. I was on guard on fryday and will not be on again untill tomorrow. There is nothing new going on here only that there is a draft going away this afternoon of about fifteen. I do not know where they are going, or they do not know them selves. They are a great party, they have all been in the cage lately, and some / just was let out to get redy to go, and then others are all on the restricted list that is they are not allowed to go on liberty I will now close by sending much love to all.

Your Brother Charlie.
