Charles Leaman to Mary E. Leaman, 20 February 1863
M. Barracks Washington Feb. 20. 63
Sis
I received your letter in due time and was sorry to here that Hary is not well, but I hope it will not amount to any thing. Will and I where right in supposeing that you would think something was wrong because he was not home & at the time he said. Every thing is going on as usealy here. to day makes the third day I am off of guard. Last sunday Mr Linville and Mr Warfell was here to see me. they seemed very much pleased with my quarters. Day before yesterday Mr Kenagy was here but I was out on liberty so I did not get to see him. You may tell papa not to trouble himself about Will not asking me, for I would not have twenty dollars of his money in my hand, and not ask him for / any if I wanted it, but I do not want any for I have some in my pocket and some of my bounty comeing to me yet, so I think I can make out untill I am sent away, which I think, at least I hope, will not be very long, for U. Sam is geting a good many vessels made which will be finished soon and I think those here will be sent to some of them.
Will, I suppose told you how I am fixed, so I have nothing more to say only that I am all right and send much love to all.
Charley.
