Henry Leaman Jr. to Catharine A. Leaman, 1865
Phila. 18th/65
Dear Mother
I went on duty last night as Assistant Demonstrator for young Dr Pancoast.
This will occupy three nights in the week. Owing to this appointment which was somewhat unexpected, I shall not be able to get home the beginning of next week, as I had anticipated. If nothing prevents I will be up on Friday morning.
Business before pleasure is more of a necessity than a virtue with me, I am afraid / I am well
much love
Your aff. son
Harry
