My Dear Cousin
I received your very kind letter of the 3d inst. by due course of mail but I owe you an apology for not answering sooner.
How time flies, it seems like but yesterday, since your return to Princeton. I was shocked to learn from your letter, of your ill treatment toward my worthy female companion, but by the way, I neglected making my manners to her when I left the car. I stayed all night in the city, and returned home next day.
I called on my much / esteemed cousin Carrie Patterson, and spent a very pleasant evening, also went to lecture with Coz. Harry. Since the 1st of May I have been very busily engaged in the lime and wood business. we have been able to sell all we can burn, so far. The kiln consumes wood almost as fast as one team can haul it. I am under obligations to you for your kind invitation to commencement, I feel quite confident I would enjoy the little excursion as well as the interesting exercises, but if our business continues, and I think it will, it would be impossible for me to attend, however much / I would like to. Celia & Libbie are invited to commencement at Norristown. I do not know wether they will go or not. Since you left Sue Heistand was married to Jim H.
This evening I met Willie and Harry at Leaman Place. Father & Mother spent the afternoon at your place. The folks are all well.
I received an appointment to day to take the Census of Paradise Township.
Charley the folks all wish to be remembered to you, and I will bid you Good night.
I remain as ever your aff. Cousin
